Drumroll Please – Introducing D’Andre “Quicksticks” Gosey drummer of Houston Band The C.I.T.Y & Guitar Center Drum-Off Grand Finalist

Growing up I had a dream of being a professional artist and musician. I did a lot of singing and naturally took to drumming as a child. So these days, whenever I have the opportunity to sit down and chop it up with a fellow drummer, it’s always a good day in the neighborhood!

Meet Houston based drummer and Guitar Center Drum-Off Grand Finalist D’Andre “Quicksticks” Gosey. Quicksticks was gracious enough to let me sit down and chat with him for today’s Dirty South Spotlight interview.

What’s your name, where are you from and what do you do?
D’Andre Gosey (Pronounced GoSee) from Houston. Drummer. I have my band The City, I’m a minister of music at my church and teacher (drums) at Hines Caldwell Elementary.

What inspired you to do what you do?
As long as I can remember; playing on pots and pans in my mom’s kitchen and I’ve been playing ever since.

Best business or personal advice you’ve ever received?
It would be setting a clear goal, work hard at it and try to be creative and going at it 120%!

So what do you like to do for fun?
I’m pretty boring. (We both laugh hard and I state I’m the same) I like hanging with my family; my wife and daughter and reading books!

What words of advice or encouragement would you give to those who want to follow in your footsteps?
I keep God first, number one. Two, stay humble and treat people good. That’s what opens doors – people. Three, try to be the best at what you do. Yea that’s it keep God first, stay humble and work your butt off! (Laughs)

What do you love most about the Dirty South?
Man, so much! I like how laid back we are; no matter where I go the people (here) are laid back. We’ve got real good food!

Quicksticks knows like any of us, you haven’t had food until you have had food here in the dirty! It was an absolute pleasure to speak with D’Andre on a personal and professional level and I mentioned to him I can’t wait to catch him and his band The City in action. Link up with him on Instagram or Facebook. Until next time!
